KSNV Las Vegas (NBC Affiliate) Interviews Bowen

I think this was my favorite media opportunity in the 7 months of PR we did for The Comic Shop. I returned to Torpedo Comics, where we filmed the rival store “Wild Imagination” in the movie, to speak with Evan Schreiber from KSNV, the Las Vegas affiliate for NBC. First, I love local coverage and really want to become part of the filmmaking community in Las Vegas. I see myself as a Vegas-based filmmaker and intend to incorporate the city into future movies as well. Second, it was my first chance to be interviewed for a TV piece, despite Jesse Metcalfe being on a number of stations helping to promote the movie. This was my second visit to Torpedo since filming wrapped, but the first was on the release date (4/11) and was bittersweet. I had intended first to visit Heroes for Sale, where we filmed the primary store (Mike’s World), but their physical location is no more. I believe they have an online presence, but it was sad to see in such short time another comic shop closing. It speaks to the reality portrayed in the movie, though. Comics shops are a tough business. Torpedo as I understand has also closed most of their locations, leaving just one in Southern California and the Las Vegas location where we filmed.
